Krewe Coronation

Well, last weekend I went back to Minden for the annual Coronation of the Krewe de Ambassadors. This is when the Krewe announces who is the next year's Royalty for Mardi Gras. This was a fun party but the real fun will be at the parades and the Mardi Gras Ball. The attached picture is the 2006 Royalty.

Trip to San Francisco in August

About a month ago, I went to San Francisco with 9 other girl friends from Minden that I went to High School with. We had so much fun!!!! It was the first time in over 20 years that we have all been together for more than an hour. Everyone seems the same - except for a few gray hairs....

Save the Boob Golf Tournament

The HOPE WORKS - Save the Boob Golf Tournament was on Sept. 8th in Wylie, Texas. This is the group that helped pay for my last reconstruction surgery. It was a great day and nice to meet the people that made it all happen.

This is a picture of me and Meredith England. Meredith is the person that started this organization and had breast cancer too.

Hurricane in Louisiana

To all my friends, my family lives in Louisiana but they live in north Louisiana so it was not effected by the Hurricane. It is however, being effected by the influx of cajuns from the New Orleans area. Just like in other cities and towns, people and civic groups are helping with food, clothing and housing needs.

My friend, Linda and I have adopted a family of 8 from New Orleans. There is a 84 year old grandfather down to a 5 month old baby. We found them living at a two room hotel in Fort Worth. They are good ole working people. We got them food and clothing to start with. Last Friday, Linda found them a place to live - two, 2-bedroom apartments side by side. We found everyone beds, linens, sofa, table and kitchen essentials. They just love it. We are still short one sofa and one kitchen table. Linda and her daughter, Ashley decorated it and it is now their new home. They are applying for WIC and food stamps currently. They hope to get jobs soon and get assistance with FEMA. Several of the men are working some odd jobs to keep busy. The grandfather, Frank is an avid golfer and is getting antsy sitting around the house. So I have him a tee time on Tuesday. The golf course is going to let him use their clubs free until we can find him some.

It is just amazing all of the kindness of people. I know that God is proud of us for all of our help.

GOD BLESS!
